Make a difference in the community! Share your expertise to improve lives. The Prince William Health District is seeking a dedicated healthcare technician to join our highly skilled team. This position will provide technical support to professional medical and nursing staff. Duties include collection of adult and pediatric venipuncture and capillary blood specimens and performing clinical laboratory tests; sterilization of instruments; maintenance of logs and records; and supply inventory and ordering.

Must be proficient in venipuncture skills and laboratory specimen collection. Must demonstrate problem solving techniques; accurate record keeping and quality control. Working knowledge of computer applications and e-mail. High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to problem-solve, set priorities and work independently is required. Must effectively work with diverse populations and work as part of a team. Ability to interact with internal and external customers in a positive manner promoting public health. Excellent skills in oral & written communication are required. Must have valid driver’s license and ability to provide own transportation. Must have working knowledge of OSHA and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations. Must be able to effectively use a computer for data entry, e-mail and Microsoft Office software.

Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of a state and federal criminal history background check and the Department of Social Service’s Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry check, U.S. HHS IG Exclusion List check, employment reference check and E-Verify. Valid driver’s license and successfully passing a background investigation are required. Must adhere to the VDH Driver Safety Policy. Must provide own transportation and will be required to travel to other district site locations.
